UNION — A restaurant chain building one of its newest restaurants in Union will sponsor a job fair in the USC Union Auditorium this Tuesday.
The new Waffle House currently under construction at 519 N. Duncan Byass, Union, is one 70 the Norcross, Ga.-based chain is opening in its service area. When it opens, the restaurant, which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will employ 40-60 people in the preparation and service of the selections on its menu.
In order to staff the restaurant, Waffle House will hold a job fair Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon at the USC Union Auditorium.
“We’re looking for cooks, waiters, and waitresses,” Waffle House Human Resource Specialist Tifanny Geter said Friday. “We’re just looking for good, honest people with reliable transportation.”
Geter said that persons who put in an application on Tuesday could find themselves hired as early as Wednesday.
“It’s immediate positions available,” Geter said. “We will be screening the applicants that day and making hiring decisions within 24 hours.”
Geter said applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have a reliable means transportation. She said that while people from outside Union County may apply for one of the available positions, Waffle House is putting an emphasis on hiring locally.
Some of the restaurant’s staff has already been hired and is currently undergoing the training process which began at USC Union. Those hired out of Tuesday’s job fair will also undergo the same training process.
The USC Union portion of the training process is orientation and Geter said this is followed by hands-on training at the Spartanburg Waffle House.
