UNION COUNTY — Today’s edition of The Union Daily Times features the second place winners in the Elegant and Creative categoris of this year’s Union County Recreation Department Christmas Lighting Contest.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both Elegant and Creative categories were announced during Tuesday’s Union County Council meeting. Cash prizes were awarded to winners for each category. The Elegant category includes white lights or single-color lights only, as well as flood lights, ribbons, and wreaths. The Creative category includes colored lights, inflatable decorations and musical displays.
Program Director Jessica Gallman said while fewer people participated this year (10 participants compared to last year’s 30 participants), all entries were impressive, making judging difficult for the four judges.
Gallman said the UCRD looks forward to holding the contest later in the month of December next year, in hopes of encouraging more participation in the free contest which is open to all residents of Union County.
The photos here include only a portion of the winning displays. Many of the light displays are elaborate and cover more area than can be captured in one photo. The addresses are provided to allow Christmas light enthusiasts the opportunity to find the displays around town. A complete list of participants is available on the UCRD website at www.unionscrec.com.
The third place winners will be featured in Tuesday’s edition of The Union Daily Times.
