UNION — A hair salon that specializes in haircuts for the entire family and uses computers to keep track of its customers’ preferred hairstyles is holding its grand opening Saturday.
Great Clips is located at 523 N. Duncan Bypass, Suit B, between Wal Mart and McDonald’s, and owner Kimberly Kizito says the salon differs from others in how it provides customers with its services.
“We are a hair salon that specializes in haircuts for the whole family,” Kizito said Thursday. “What makes Great Clips unique is we don’t take appointments. You walk right in and we have our stylist to check you in to our computer system. What that allows us to do is remember you the next time you need a haircut. It also allows us to remember the type of haircut so you don’t have to.”
Kizito added that Great Clips is also unique in that “we specialize in getting you in and out without loss quality or service.”
The Union Great Clips salon is one of three owned by Kizito’s company, B.H. Grace. The other Great Clips salons owned by B.H. Grace are located in Laurens and Anderson Central.
Great Clips, which is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is described by Kizito as “the world’s largest hair salon brand.” She said that brand is summed up in the words “comfort, freedom, and connection.”
Kizito said that the comfort element means “we will greet you at the door and you’ll get to know all of our stylists. We’ll treat you like a guest in our home.”
The freedom element involves providing customers with ready access to the salon and its services.
“Freedom allows you to come to us any time with no waiting,” Kizito said. “We can do that with our online check in system. So in the comfort of your own home you can check in online at www.greatclips.com or you can download our free smart phone app and check in that way from anywhere. You will be on our list when you walk in the door.”
As for connection, Kizito said that means “when you are in the stylist’s chair, we guarantee that you will get the haircut you want.”
Great Clips has nine styling stations which Kizito said will be staffed with licensed cosmetologists who will be dedicated to providing customers with quality service.
For its Saturday grand opening, Kizito said all haircuts will be $4.99. She said there will also be drawings for free haircuts and other prizes.
Great Clips will be open Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. for the grand opening.
The salon’s regular hours will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
