UNION — Although the opening date for Union’s Waffle House restaurant has been slightly delayed, there are already immediate job openings for 40-60 people.
Tifanny Geter, of Waffle House human resources, said the opening date of the restaurant in Union has been set for January.
“We are coming,” Geter said, adding that the delay was only because of some hindrances caused by long stretches of rain over the past couple months.
Geter — who said she spent lots of time in Union growing up since her mother is a Union native — has been spending time in Union getting the word out about the restaurant’s arrival as well as its hiring of 40-60 people. Geter said Waffle House has immediate openings for cooks and servers on first, second and third shifts.
“We are training now,” Geter said. “We have already hired some people from Union.”
Geter said since the business is 24 hours a day/365 days a year with the doors never closing, Waffle House looks to hire more than enough people in the beginning stages.
“We are excited about coming to Union and becoming part of the community,” she said.
Geter also said the feedback she has received around the community has been positive.
“Everybody has been so nice and welcoming,” Geter said. “They seem to be excited, and when they see me in my uniform, they already have their orders ready. I’ve already had people ask me when they can get their hash browns ‘scattered, smothered, and covered.’”
