The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrest:
— Lamar Gist, 52, of 317 South Church St., Union, was charged with failure to register as a sex offender around 6:50 p.m. Jan. 9.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
— A resident of Woodson Drive, Union reported on Jan. 9 that he was assaulted on Sims Avenue, Union, when two men he did not know pulled up in a light blue jeep and hit him in the head with a bottle. The victim reported that 15-20 minutes prior to the assault, he had been in a verbal argument with an unknown male and female in the same jeep.
— The owner of mobile homes in Timberlake Road Mobile Home Park reported Jan. 9 that air conditioning units were stolen from two residences. The victim valued the loss at $2,000.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:
— Kelli Leigh Atkinson, 27, of 117 Seigler Road, Union, was charged with shoplifting around 12:29 p.m. Jan. 9. According to the arrest warrant, Atkinson took numerous items of clothing from the rack, along with three small billfolds, and placed them inside her purse, passing all points of sale, at Walmart, located at 513 North Duncan Bypass, Union. The items — valued at a total of $126 — were recovered.
— Michael Leon Holmes, Jr., 39, of 215 Goings Lane, Union, was charged with unlawful use of 911 around 7:05 p.m. Jan. 9. According to the arrest warrant, Holmes called 91 on Oct. 31, 2013, and reported a false burglary at Lil Cricket, located at 616 West Main Street, Union.
— Hollis Jones, 30, of 156 Wildlife Drive, Union, was charged with driving under suspension around 12 p.m. Jan. 9.
