The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrest:


— Virginia Louise Phillips, 31, of 525 Bishop Road, Union, was charged with shoplifting around 2:20 p.m. Jan. 8. According to the incident report, Phillips took a multi-colored stuffed animal from Dollar General, located at 410 North Duncan Bypass, Union, on Dec. 13.


The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:


— The parent of a Sims Middle School student reported on Jan. 8 that his son left a black Pearl snare drum in the practice room of the school, and when he returned to get it, the case was open and the drum was missing. The drum was valued at $700.


— A resident of Pine Street, Union, reported that several transactions she did not make were on her bank statement. The transactions were from different locations in Georgia and occurred between Nov. 15-Dec. 30, 2013. The transactions totaled $294.93. A report was turned over to investigations.
