UNION — A number of Union County residents have the “holiday blues” after being arrested on drug charges Monday.

In a statement released Tuesday, Union County Sheriff David Taylor said that “Operation Holiday Blues” has been an ongoing investigation over the past several months by drug task force officers. Taylor said the majority of the charges stem from the individuals attempting to purchase more than the allowed amount of Ephedrine or Pseudoephrine. He said these arrests are part of an ongoing investigation by his office of methamphetamine drug use in Union County.

Taylor said his office has discovered and prosecuted subjects arrested in 22 meth labs this year alone. He said this is double the amount found last year.

“We know that this is a very addicting drug and hopefully with the help of the Solicitor’s Office, we can prosecute more and more of these cases,” Taylor stated.

Taylor states that his narcotics officers do an outstanding job working illegal narcotics cases in our county and he commends them on their efforts.

“We realize we may not win the war on drugs, but we will continue to fight the battle in Union County,” Taylor said.

More arrests are expected as a result of this on-going investigation.
