Family disturbance leads to moonshine arrest
UNION — A family disturbance lead to a Union man being arrested for the unlawful manufacturing of moonshine.
Ty Ray Jones, 36, of 3080 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway, Union, was arrested after family members reported assaults on them and threats of violence against the family and household pets.
Family members also reported that Jones has been highly intoxicated from the moonshine he was making and consuming. It was reported that a minor child in the home had participated in the process of making the moonshine and described to deputies the process of how the moonshine is made. A search of the residence confirmed the report and officers seized the homemade distillery.
Jones has been charged with Criminal Domestic Violence, Unlawful Neglect of a Child, Unlawful Manufacturing of Liquor, and Unlawful Possession of a Distillery. He remains in the Union County Jail.
