A Union man was charged with armed robbery and kidnapping on Wednesday afternoon.


— Robert Lewis Briggs, 29, of 1018 S. Pinckney St., Union, was charged with armed robbery and kidnapping around 1:45 p.m. Wendesday. According to the incident report, Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Union Public Safety officers responded to a possible armed robbery at Li’l Cricket, located at 803 S. Pinckney St. in Union. The victim stated Briggs (A.K.A. “Black Rob”) jumped into his car at the store and made him drive away. The report states that Briggs fled on foot after the victim drove into the Bantam Chef parking lot and fled from the car. Briggs took the victim’s cell phone, lighter, and $40 in U.S. currency. Briggs was located a short time later and taken into custody.


The Union County Sheriff’s Office also reported the following incident:


— The owner of a property on Cross Keys Highway, Union, reported on Sept. 19 that a central heat and air unit had been stolen from the property. The complainant was informed the unit was missing by someone who cut grass at the property. The owner stated the incident could have occurred between Aug. 13 (the time of the last grass cutting) and the date of the report. The missing unit was valued at $900.


The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:


— Deon Depree Thompson, 22, of 1007 Santuc Drive, Carlisle, was charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime around 5:10 p.m. Sept. 19. According to arrest warrants, Thompson and another man tied a victim up with belts while they searched his house on Aug. 5. They took money, jewelry, car keys and phones while presenting a black revolver.


— Miriam Elise Holden, 22, of 267 Eaves Road, Whitmire, was charged with shoplifting around 10:35 a.m. Sept. 19. According to the arrest warrant, Dupree took several items out of Dollar General, 410 North Duncan Bypass, Union, without paying for them.


— Timothy Tyrone Farr, 41, of 202 Gadberry St., Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 4:35 a.m. Sept. 20.


— Christopher Chamberlain, 38, of 100 Monroe St., Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 9:25 p.m. Sept. 19.


— Kevin Wayne Knox, 17, of 106 Harris Drive, Union, was charged with simple possession of marijuana around 10:10 p.m. Sept. 19.
