The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:
— Jefferson Richard Owens, 31, of 203 Partridge Road, Union, was charged with forgery around 5:45 p.m. Sept. 16. According to the incident report, an investigation of a fraudulent check for $243.79 that was presented to Ace Hardware on Nov. 19, 2012, indicated Owens was the person who presented the check. Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office had a report filed that the check in question — and possibly others — had been stolen and forged. Owens, who was incarcerated on other charges, gave a statement concerning his involvement in this and other incidents.
— Allyssa Nicole Boulware, 23, and John Anthony Stafford, 25, both of 1405 Peach Orchard Road, Union, were each charged with unlawful neglect toward a child around 5 p.m. Sept. 17.
— Kevin Wayne Haney, 26, of 820 Flat Drive, Buffalo was charged with breach of peace around 5:55 p.m. Sept. 17.
— Stanley K. Haney, 58, of 820 Flat Drive, Buffalo, was charged with breach of peace around 6:15 p.m. Sept. 17.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
— A resident of Bailey Road, Buffalo, reported on Sept. 17 that around 10 square metal pipes, each measuring six feet in length, were taken from his property. The metal was valued at $300.
— A resident of Elford Grove Road, Jonesville, reported on Sept. 17 that the glass in her back door was broken, and three flat screen TVs (a 32-inch Vizio, a 32-inch Emerson, and a 40-inch Emerson) valued at a total of $1,000, as well as a bowl of change valued at around $20, were missing.
— A resident of Philippi Church Road, Union, reported on Sept. 17 that his identity was stolen. He received an email from Walmart.com thanking him for his orders for a Toshiba laptop ($298) and a Samsung Galaxy tablet ($199). The complainant did not place either order. Both orders listed a phone number, and when the complainant attempted to call the number, it did not work. The orders listed another name as an alternate pick-up person, and the complainant reported the name.
— A resident of Haywood Street, Buffalo, reported on Sept. 17 that his mailbox was stolen from his house. The mailbox was valued at $40.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrest:
— Jefferson Richard Owens, 31, of 203 Partridge Road, Union, was charged with forgery around 10 a.m. Sept. 17. According to the arrest warrant, Owens uttered and published as true five counterfeit payroll checks bearing the name of Jones Sign Co. Inc. for a total amount of $2,561.04 between Dec. 17-23, 2012, while at 907 E. Main St., Union.
The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incidents:
— The loss prevention officer of Walmart, located at 513 North Duncan Bypass, Union, reported on Sept. 17 that a Pioneer car radio valued at $124.96 was shoplifted from the store by two males. A video of the two males stealing the radio was given to investigations.
— The manager of 49 West Apartments, located at 1208 W. Main St., Union, reported on Sept. 17 that a front bay window was broken out of one of the apartments, with the storm door and shutter also damaged. A 40-ounce beer bottle was also found near the window. Damage is estimated at $400. The case was turned over to investigations.
