UNION — Mrs. Roark’s 2nd Grade Class at Foster Park Elementary School held their own “Super Bowl.” Students were divided into two teams — representing the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.

During the two-week period, each teammate worked individually to earn points for their team. Ways to earn points (touchdowns and field goals) included: behavior, independent reading, Accelerated Reader tests, and spelling tests. There were also a few opportunities to earn “extra points” for their teams. A scoreboard was updated daily and kept in the classroom to create motivation, excitement, and friendly competition.

The winning team was treated to a Super Bowl Pizza Lunch with Mrs. Roark and Miss Young (Intern from Winthrop University), three Eagle Bucks, and a Homework Pass.

The “Denver Broncos” won the Class Super Bowl. Those students were: Carson Bannister, Ryan Braun, Alex Calhoun, Ashley Colson, Avondale Davis, Gabriel Gilstrap, Bryce Hatcher-Gist, TraShauna Kelly, Khaylah Morrow, and Carthy Stevens.

To conclude the Super Bowl, the students made their predictions about Sunday’s Super Bowl. Students who predicted the actual Super Bowl winner also received an Eagle Buck.
