UNION — The summer fun continues this week with the Activity Fun Camp at the USC Union Founders House.


The Activity Fun Camp is the second week of fun activities offered this summer by USC Union to the children of Union County.


The first week of summer fun was in June which provided the children participating with a variety of activities including visits by the the bloodhound with the Union County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit; a local beekeeping group; athletic activities in the campus gym; presentations on science, chemistry, and computers; games; building and launching rockets; and a stage production of “The Cat in the Hat” performed by the children who rehearsed the play and made the props for it throughout the week while enjoying other activities.


The children attending this week’s Activity Fun Camp will also get the opportunity to participate in the activities those who attended the June summer camp enjoyed. Among those activities is a stage production of The Cat in the Hat which will be performed at the end of this week. The children attending this week’s camp immediately got to work on the play, doing their first read-thru of the script as the casting process got under way.


In addition to the stage production, which is part of the Fun with Theater Day, the children in attendance will also do projects and activities under the headings of Fun with Science Day, Fun with Rockets Day, Fun with Sports Day, and Fun with Computers Day.


Also on Monday, the children attending th Activity Fun Camp received a visit from the bloodhound with the K-9 Unit of the sheriff’s office. They will also enjoy a visit from the Union County Beekeepers Association which is scheduled for Wednesday.


The camp, which has a total enrollment of 15 children, is being held from 9 a.m-3 p.m. each day at the USC Union Founders House located at 122 North Church St., Union. Some of the activities will also take place on the grounds and in the other buildings of the campus including Truluck Gym and the Main Building.


In addition to the activities the children take part in, the camp also provides snacks, lunch, and drinks.
