UNION — Interns from Winthrop University were honored by Foster Park Elementary School during a drop-in after school.

The Winthrop student teachers are now required to serve as an intern for the entire year. The experience allows them to work with the cooperating teacher during the beginning of the year to see how classroom management systems are established and carried out throughout the year. It also allows time for the interns to observe other classrooms and then to implement these practices in the classroom setting. The interns are required to attend faculty meetings, PTO Nights and Parent Conferences.

The cooperating teachers agree that the experiences of these interns far exceed the internship they experienced as beginning teachers. Foster Park is a Netscope Partner with Winthrop University. Cooperating teachers from Foster Park were Perette Candler, Sheila Bates, Heather Vinson and Jennifer Roark.
