8 a.m.-Until: First Baptist Church Family Life Center hosts a yard sale. Some proceeds will go to missions. There will be a huge variety of items for sale including Nandina bushes.


8:30 a.m.: Corinth Baptist Church’s Relay For Life Team sponsors a yard sale/fish fry in the church parking lot.


5 p.m.: Chambertown Community Lighthouse, 413 S. Mountain St., Union, hosts a Youth Conference. The theme will be “Why Jesus?” Guest speaker will be Larae Robinson, House of Favor, Vale, NC. Musical guest will be Union native Reggie Rocc of The Worship Center, Roebuck, SC. Bishop Tyra Parham, Pastor. There will be refreshments, door prizes, and a love offering. Come help us lift up the name of Jesus!


Sunday, April 27


10:30 a.m.: Corinth Baptist Church hosts a Missionary Program with Minister Brenda Byrd as guest speaker. Come hear this dynamic speaker during the morning worship experience. Mrs. Earline Beaty, President. Rev. J.A. Calhoun, Pastor.


11:30 a.m.-Until: Bethel United Methodist Church Relay For Life Team serves a Noon Meal. The menu will include steak and gravy or fried chicken, cream potatoes and gravy or rice and gravy, butter peas or green beans, macaroni pie, slaw, rolls, tea, and dessert. Eat in or takeout. Call 427-1047 to call in your order.


1 p.m.: Seventh Day Adventist holds a Yard Sale with proceeds to go to Relay For Life.


2 p.m.: The Usher Board of Bethel Baptist Church, 904 Pea Ridge Highway, Jonesville, celebrates their anniversary. The Rev. Jimmie Peake Jr. will be the guest speaker. Rev. James E. Tillotson, Pastor.


2:15 p.m.: Maple Ridge Baptist Church hosts the 6th Anniversary of church pastor the Rev. Johnny Johnson.


2:30 p.m.: Paradise AME Church Simply Blessed Gospel Choir celebrates its 3rd Annual Choir Anniversary. Come and help us celebrate this glorious event.


2:30 p.m.: New Chapel A.M.E. Church, 249 Bird Street, Union, invites you to worship with us during our Four Gospels Services. We have four exciting speakers who will individually deliver a message from each gospel. Matthew — Sister Vonda Gallman, Mark — Rev. James Kollock, Luke — Rev. Rosette Gallman, and John — Rev. Tab Hunter. Rev. Carolyn Evans, Pastor.


6 p.m.: First Baptist Church will have a very special music service with Nathan Herron. Nathan appeared on American Idol and made it into the top 20 males. Nathan has a beautiful voice and loves to sing Christian music. You will be truly blessed. Put this on your calendar and BRING A FRIEND…OR TWO. We will receive a love offering.


6:30 p.m.: The Union County Council on Ministries sponsors “Choirfest,” an evening of music performed by local United Methodist Church Choirs at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, 417 Rice Avenue. The public is invited to attend.


Friday, May 2-Saturday, May 3


4-6 p.m. & 8 a.m.-2 p.m.: Church of the Nativity, 320 S. Church St., Union, holds an Olden Days Variety Store Sale. On Friday, the sale will be from 4-6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds will be used by the church for community outreach. This will be huge sale, don’t miss it.

5 p.m.: St. Luke Baptist Church holds a Relay for Life Songfest. Rev. Shell, Pastor.


Sunday, May 4


3 p.m.: Red Hill Baptist Church pays tribute to their pastor, the Rev. Geoffrey Stephens, on his third anniversary. The speaker for this very special occasion will be the Rev. Courtney Mills, pastor of the Mikes Creek Baptist Church, Gaffney. the church family invites everyone to come and help honor this very dedicated and devoted man of God and the greatest preacher in Union County.


4 p.m.: The Senior and Junior Ushers Ministry of Friendship Baptist Church celebrates their anniversary at the church located at 250 Morning Drive, Spartanburg. Minister Beverly Powe Jeter of Charlotte, NC will be the guest preacher. Rev. Michael G. Glenn is church pastor. The public is invited to attend.

5:30 p.m.:


Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church holds their Poor Man’s Supper. The menu will include green beans, potato salad, ham, rolls, tea. Desserts are extra. Melody Farr will be singing.


Friday, May 16-Sunday, May 18


7 p.m.: Please join us for the St. Paul Baptist Church Family and Friends Reunion Weekend. This reunion is for St. Paul church members, past and present, as well as family and friends. We have several events planned including a banquet and concert for a weekend full of fellowship and fun times. There will be a Get Acquainted Hour including dinner from 6-7 p.m. and a rehearsal by the Reunion Choir and activities for the children under adult supervision 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 16; a rehearsal by the Reunion Choir 10 a.m.-12 p.m., a luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and a banquet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 and activities for the children under adult supervision; and a Worship Service at 10:45 a.m. and concert by the Reunion Choir at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18.

11 a.m.-1 p.m.: VBS Kickoff at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church. Games and activities for kids. The kids will also get to participate in a scavenger hunt. Fun for all kids registering for Vacation Bible School.


Monday, June 2-Friday, June 6


6 p.m.-8:45 p.m.: VBS at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church. Adult classes will be available for those that are interested.

6:30-8:30 p.m.: Friendship Baptist Church, 250 Morning Drive, Spartanburg, holds Vacation Bible School for all ages.

Ongoing Events


The Union Moms In Prayer group meets each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway, Union, S.C. This is an informal gathering of moms, grandmothers, and any other interested ladies who would like to be a part of this important ministry of praying for the students, teachers, and staff of our schools. There is also opportunity, for those who wish, to ask prayer for specific individuals. All ladies are welcome to participate. Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman Fendley Highway, Union, holds Celebrate Recovery every Friday night. The meal is served at 6 p.m. and worship is at 7 p.m. For more information call 864-466-6659.


Mitchell Chapel Christian Church, 381 Kelly Road in Union, holds services at its new location, 143 Camelot Drive in Union.


The Missionary Auxiliary of the Pacolet River Baptist Association has an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Bring identification and proof residence.
