Saturday, April 5


7:30 a.m.-2 p.m.: Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church, Buffalo, holds fish, hot dogs, and yard sales at the Pacolet River Building on Lovers Lane, Union. Rev. Elijah Ray, Pastor.


11 a.m.: Red Hill Baptist Church holds its Annual Youth Program. The theme is “The Gift.” Rev. Geoffrey Stephens, Pastor.


5 p.m.: Buffalo United Methodist Church Relay For Life Team welcomes Brandon Williams to our fundraiser. Spaghetti supper from 5-6:30 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m. Brandon has performed across the southeast with notable performers such as Bill Gaither Homecoming Tour, Cliff Barrows, George Beverly Shea, The Martins, Gold City, and many others.


Sunday, April 6


Noon: Fairforest Baptist Church of Union serves lunch. Eat-in or take-out. Persons who want takeout may begin calling in their orders at 11 a.m. The menu includes roast, fried chicken, black eyed peas, cabbage, mac and cheese, potato salad, rice and gravy, and green beans. Plates for adults are $8, for children ages 4-12 $4, and children 3 and under dine for free. All proceed go to benefit the Nicaragua mission for Kent Smith and Pat Cantrell.


2 p.m.: The Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Jonesville, SC, invites you to our Pastor and First Lady’s 7th Anniversary. The speaker will be Dr. Allan Rector, Pastor of the Community Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC, along with his congregation. The Rev. Edward Pressley, Pastor.


6 p.m.: Christian Fellowship Church hosts A Night of Worship presented by the combined choirs of Fairforest Baptist Church and Christian Fellowship Church and friends.


6:30 p.m.: New Life Baptist Church, 502 Meansville Road, Union, hosts a concern by The Riverside Boys. Everyone Welcome.


Saturday, April 12


11 a.m.: Sardis United Methodist Church Ladies Circle #1 will be selling chicken stew for $6 a quart. The stew will be ready to go at 11 a.m. Proceeds will go to missions.


Noon-2 p.m.: Morningside Baptist Church hosts lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt. Lots of fun for the entire family.


Noon-6 p.m.: Lockhart First Baptist Church holds a Relay For Life Family Fun Day in its Family Life Center located behind Lockhart One Stop on SC 49. There will be hot dogs, a silent auction, jump house, snow cones, bake sale, and more. From 4-6 p.m. there will be singing by Patti Turner, Kellie Allen, Luke Jenkins, Lee and Tiffany Littlejohn, and The Riverside Boys.


4 p.m.: The Mitchell Chapel Christian Church Pastor’s Aide would like to invite you to our Pastor’s 6th Anniversary Banquet at the Buffalo Teen Center. Pastor Tony and Pastor LaQuita Griffin are the pastors at MCCC.


Sunday, April 13


Noon-Until: Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Road, Union, serves Sunday dinner. The menu includes fried chicken, roast beef, steak and gravy, creamed potatoes, rice and gravy, macaroni pie, green beans, lima beans, slaw, rolls, tea, and dessert. Cost is $8 per person. 1-4 p.m.: Union Church of God Family Life Center hosts Easter Bunny Photos. You will receive a CD with all images and rights to print. The cost is $10 per child with family rates available. For more information call Celeste at 864-630-5176. All proceeds go to Union Church of God Children’s Ministries.


2:30 p.m.: We, the Youth Ministry “God’s Visions” of McBeth Baptist Church, invite you to come worship and fellowship with us on our one day Youth Revival. Our theme is “Get Turnt Up For Christ.” Minister David “DK” Goodson, 627 Music LLC, and Faith to Faith, Glory to Glory Church of Spartanburg, SC will deliver the message. Also on program are St. Luke Youth Choir, Ministry of Mines (J & J) of Chester, SC and New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church Youth. We are praying that hearts will be changed, souls saved and lives delivered. The public is invited, Rev. Freddie L. Wicker Jr., Pastor.


2:30 p.m.: Beatty’s Chapel All Male Chorus celebrates their fifth anniversary. Rev. Stephen Y. Brown, Pastor.


6 p.m.: Fairforest Baptist Church hosts A Night of Worship presented by the combined choirs of Fairforest Baptist Church and Christian Fellowship Church and friends.


Monday, April 14


7 p.m.: The Union County Baptist Association WMU Spring Meeting will be hosted by Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. Guest missionary speaker will be Rev. Bill Wright, and our State WMU representative, Ms. Cindy Skelton, will also be part of the program. Another special feature of the evening will be the display of our association quilt representing Union County churches’ WMU. Refreshments will be served by the host church following the meeting.


Friday, April 18


Noon: New Emanuel Chapel hosts their annual “The Last Seven Words of Jesus Christ.” Minister Natasha Wedman, Minister Sundra Conner, Minister Mark Darby, Minister Mary Hooker, Elder Anita Cory, Jackie P. Thompson, and Charles Brannon will be speakers. Dr. James L. Mason, Pastor.


Monday, April 21-Friday, April 25


6:30 p.m.: The Pacolet River Baptist Sunday School Convention will observe its Annual Baptist Education Training Clinic. Repast is served at 6:30 p.m. and worship begins at 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday nightly. On Friday night, repast is served at 6 p.m. and worship begins at 6:30 p.m.


Sunday, April 27


11:30 a.m.-Until: Bethel United Methodist Church Relay For Life Team serves a Noon Meal. The menu will include steak and gravy or fried chicken, cream potatoes and gravy or rice and gravy, butter peas or green beans, macaroni pie, slaw, rolls, tea, and dessert. Eat in or takeout. 1 p.m.: Seventh Day Adventist holds a Yard Sale with proceeds to go to Relay For Life.


2:30 p.m.: Paradise AME Church Simply Blessed Gospel Choir celebrates its 3rd Annual Choir Anniversary. Come and help us celebrate this glorious event.


Ongoing Events


The Union Moms In Prayer group meets each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway, Union, S.C. This is an informal gathering of moms, grandmothers, and any other interested ladies who would like to be a part of this important ministry of praying for the students, teachers, and staff of our schools. There is also opportunity, for those who wish, to ask prayer for specific individuals. All ladies are welcome to participate. Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman Fendley Highway, Union, holds Celebrate Recovery every Friday night. The meal is served at 6 p.m. and worship is at 7 p.m. For more information call 864-466-6659.


Mitchell Chapel Christian Church, 381 Kelly Road in Union, holds services at its new location, 143 Camelot Drive in Union.


The Missionary Auxiliary of the Pacolet River Baptist Association has an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Bring identification and proof residence.
