I know Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. is marked on your calender to come to Lockhart and watch the Christmas Parade. Or build a float and be in it and also be judged in our float contest at 1 p.m. at the Lockhart School. Lineup is at 12:30 p.m. Remember, you’ll receive a plaque for your hard work if you win. Best Theme, Most Attractive, Most Original.

Parade Marshal

Our Parade Marshal this year is Linda Ann Warren (Hootch). She has coached T-Ball for many, many years and played Santa to all the elderly and shut-ins for many years. She has been appointed the Town Historian, preserving the town’s history.

Festival Of Lights

Don’t forget to drop in on our Festival of Lights after the parade at the First Baptist Church, for some Christmas music from the Lockhart School Choir, and guest singers and speakers. Plaques will be awarded at this time also.

Remember In Prayer

I received many phone calls about my newsletter not being in Friday’s paper, but just read Tuesday’s paper and you’ll find it, this week. I asked for prayer for Cindy Henderson, but actually it’s Cindy Hutcherson, instead, so sorry for that error. She does need your prayers in her recovery from leukemia. Thank you.

My sympathy goes out tonight to Virginia Howell and family for the passing of her daughter, Diane Belk, Monday night. She was such a sweet lady and always had a smile for everybody.

Birthdays And Anniversaries

Happy belated birthday on Nov. 24 to Megan Duncan, and on the 25th was her parents, Ray and Stephanie Duncan’s anniversary. Their son Travis will be celebrating his birthday on Dec. 1. Also on the 1st is Layla Woiselle, and Joyce Turner. Trenton Wright and Jimmy Johnson celebrate on the 2nd. The 3rd isVernon Sprouse and Leigh Swad. The 4th belongs to Dale Cabaniss, Jessica Canupp, Ashley Turner and Betsy Vaughn. B.J. Johnson, and Ann Vassey on the 5th.

Embarrassing Moment

When I talk on the phone at work I have a head piece that I put on to keep my hands free. Well today my head piece died, and I just could not hear a thing out of it. I was having a busy day at work and the phone rang, I put on my head piece (forgetting it wasn’t working) and picked up the hair dryer, pushed a button and then it dawned on me that it wasn’t my phone. My customers enjoyed my stupidness.

Cold Weather

Well, right now it’s Wednesday afternoon and I’ll be going to Spartanburg this afternoon and from what I hear, it’s nothing I’m looking forward to. Rain mixed with snow!!!! I’ve been out in this chilling misty rain here and in Union today, and it’s miserable, and let’s not forget windy, also. So when is our snow going to come because it’s feeling like it now?

You know I left all my winter underwear, boots, hand warmers, coats, gloves, and so on and so on in the North when I moved here for SUNSHINE!! We were so bundled up in clothing when we went outside that it was a wonder we could even walk. You put on an extra 20 pounds in just clothes. But you stayed warm.

Today I had on a lightweight jacket, my hands felt like ice, and the wind blew my umbrella inside out, so it wasn’t any good. And I guess that’s how I’ll dress for Spartanburg for the snow. If you overdress, then the sun might come out and you get too warm.

I just hope we have great weather for the parade. Bring your bags for the candy that people throw out, and go down to the center and get a funnel cake, or candy apple, boiled peanuts, or whatever else the vendors have. Let’s make this the best Lockhart Parade yet!

Comments Worth Collecting

If you had a bad day, don’t worry. We all have a reset button — it’s called tomorrow.

It doesn’t really matter if your glass is half empty or half full.

Be thankful that you have a glass and that there’s something in it. No one ever admits they’re wrong half as loudly as they claim they’re right.

Why are there only snowmen and no snowwomen? Because only men are crazy enough to stand out in the snow all winter.

I’m glad that life isn’t like a Christmas song, because if my friends and I were building a snowman and it suddenly came alive when we put a hat on it, I’d probably freak and stab it to death with an icicle.

Happiness is having a large, loving, caring close-knit family in another city.

More Weather

Well right now I have to go out in this weather and hope for the best in Spartanburg. Maybe something will hit my mind to tell you while I’m gone, so I won’t say good night right now.

Wow was it ever windy and cold in Spartanburg. It started out kind of pleasant when we got there, but as daylight started to go away, it got windy. It felt like ice in the air. They did tell us they had snow earlier. Chuck said he saw big flakes when he go off work, at 7 a.m. in Union.

So now I’ve boiled eggs, pasta, cornbread’s in the oven, since I’ve been home. Next I’m going to boil a chicken breast and onions for my dressing. And I hate to cook as you all know by now. Then everything else gets done tomorrow, so it can take us 10 minutes to eat. And all these hours to get it all ready. One day I’ll tell you my cooking stories and then you will know why I dislike it.

Well the pot won’t boil unless I get in the kitchen. So all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Or if this gets in the paper after the holiday, I hope you enjoyed the day. Good night 864-545-6652.
