Carolyn Patrick and Mary Sybil told me there will be a Fun Day at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 25.

Sunday school will be at 10 a.m. and morning service will be at 11 a.m. and the exciting part is the youth will be conducting the service.

You may dress in shorts or jeans as they are having hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips and drinks. There will also be homemade ice cream.

If you do not have a church home, they are inviting you to come and join them for fellowship, food, and games for the children.

There will be a blow up slide and other games for the children. I heard a hint of learning how to make a volcano. Sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Wesley Chapel is at 373 #49 East (Wesley Chapel Road). In other words, it’s just off of and you can see it from S.C. 49.

Also they would like to invite you, on June 4 at 5:30, to come to the Poor Man’s Supper, again at Wesley Chapel Church. They are serving spaghetti, salad, toast, and drink. Dessert is extra. And I just know you would enjoy hearing Shawn Morris entertain, he is the guest singer that night. Enjoy!!

Fundraiser

Don’t forget that if you have any odd jobs around the house and yard, contact Pat Fowler, youth minister for the Lockhart First Baptist Church, and he will send some of his youth to help. This is a fund raiser for their Mission Trip, they will be taking this year. Please help. The youth are also selling Rada Knives.

Veterinary Clinic

I went to Lowry’s Animal Hospital this a.m. and Dr. Derrick Phillips was telling me he’d like to come to Lockhart and give our animals their shots. So I went into Charlie Conrad’s new business, Brushy Fork Armory, where he sells guns, ammo, bait, tackle, and gunsmithing. He agreed to let the vet have their clinic beside his shop. It should be in the first weekend of June.I’ll keep you posted. So in the meantime go in and see what Charlie has.

Meeting The New Owners

Well time has passed, but we all know that the Hot Spot has new owners, it’s now called Lockhart One Stop, and it’s on SC 9. I introduced myself to the owners and as you all know that go in there, they are very nice, and I like the changes they have made. Their names are Jyotish (Jay) and Alpa Patel. Go in and say hello.

Remember In Prayer

Laura Dabbs just got out of the hospital, and I hope she gets her strength back.

Pray that Billie Rae gets home soon, and will be doing great.

Judy Gill is still in rehab and needs all your prayers, also, to regain her strenght and can come home to her family.

I just got a call from Sue Smith Witherspoon, from Michigan, telling me her brother, Bobby Smith, passed away this morning. They are originally from Lockhart and were raised in No Man’s Land. I am so sorry for her family’s loss.

Sheila Carter lost her mother this weekend after a short illness. Again, my sympathy to her family. She lived in Pacolet.

Pray For The Caretakers

You know the other day in the shop, we started talking about our sick and how everyone sends prayer requests for them, but do we ever remember to pray for their caretakers, the ones that spend sleepless nights waiting to hear their cries, making sure they are clean and comfortable and have their meds on time. It’s just something to think about the next time we have prayer calls.

Careful On Facebook

Be careful on Facebook, a lot of us are being scammed, well trying to be. If you are contacted that you won a lot of $$ on Facebook lottery, I want you to know I’ve investigated it and they do not have a lottery or give money away.

Myself and others that I know personally have been contacted. They want all of your personal information. Some want you to send money to win money, they say checks are coming by UPS, anyway, please be aware. Report any of this to Facebook and they will look into it and close their account. The law wanted to talk to me when Tammy reported it today, maybe they’ll contact me later, I’ll keep you posted.

Too Hot

I’d hate to be a farmer!! I went to the oil mill and just bought a few plants, then took care of them when I got home. It’s 90 degrees out there and just the little time I spent outside I thought I would die when I came in. My body temperature couldn’t get any higher.

Birthday Wishes

Anniversaries

The 29th, John and Barbara Richardson, the 30th Robert and Jean Carter, and on the 31st Wayne and Elaine Cooke.

Don’t forget to go up to Heather’s beauty shop on #9 Saturday, May 24 for “A Day For Barbara.” There will be an all day event to help with the medical expenses of Barbara Millwood, who had a bad car accident. It starts at 10 a.m. There will be a yard sale, bake sale, car wash, auction, food and drinks, you are invited to stop by, see what’s going on and help the family out.

Wise Purchase

I gave my father $100 and said, “Buy yourself something that will make your life easier.”

So he went out and bought a present for my mother.

Drive Safely

One of my coworkers got a speeding ticket and was attending a defensive driving course to have points erased from her license.

The instructor, a police officer, emphasized that being on time was crucial, and that the classroom doors would be locked when each session began.

Just after one class started, someone knocked on the locked door.

The officer opened it and asked, “Why are you late?”

The student replied, ” I was trying not to get another ticket.”

Well it’s time to say goodnight. I hope I gave you all something to think about. So call me with your ideas or news. 864-545-6652
