Last week I said I was having a free book giveaway on May 4. I am sorry to say that it will be put off for another weekend. I didn’t check with the family to find out if they had other plans. I will keep you posted for when I can have it.

If you want to come by while I’m working, you can call me at 864-545-8852, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or any Sunday, but not the 4th, and I’ll make arrangements for you to see what books I have. Now I repeat, these books at this time are free.

Koi Fish

If anyone has a Koi Pond, and needs or wants some more Koi fish, I have a friend that made a pond last year, and paid a lot for her Koi’s. Little did she know that they reproduce, a lot. Her pond is too full and she doesn’t want to kill her Koi’s, so she is giving them away, free free, free. But hurry and call me about them, before it’s too late, at 864-545-6652. She lives this side of Chester, outside of Lockhart. We’ll get all that straightened out when you call.

Litter Pick-Up Day

On Saturday, April 26, Union County will be having a Take Pride — Litter Pick-Up Day, it will be from 8 a.m.-noon. If it rains it will be May 3.

Clean up efforts will focus on the county’s main roads, US 176, SC 49, SC 215, and SC 18. Lockhart, Jonesville, Carlisle, and Union are included.

Volunteers will be given bags, gloves, vests, and hand sanitizer on Saturday morning before they head out on the road. Curtiss Hunter, the Interim Tourism Director in Union, will be providing water and energy bars for our workers. John Gibson and employees of the county’s recycling department will pick up the bags once they are full.

Anyone who would like to help clean up please come to Lockhart Town Hall, Saturday morning. We need to clean up Lockhart, and if you can’t come by then please clean up your yard, but contact the town to carry your stuff off. We will be having a hot dog lunch at noon for our clean-up crew. They are also giving green grocery bags to be given away to our workers.

Birthdays

Forgive me for forgetting some birthdays last week, but with a computer virus, I was not thinking clearly. Kelsie Cohen’s birthday was April 11, Joyce Moody on the 15th, Inez Harris’ on April 18th, Kelsey Wright on the 20th, Tyeshia Good on April 23rd and Paul H. Means has passed away, but his birthday was April 23rd also. Kimberly Johnson on the 26th, Mathew Hudgins on the 27th, Hannah Williams on the 28th and Jason Reardon on the 29th. I’m so sorry for this error in not getting them in time, but I’ll do better next year.

Jacob’s Well

May 17, Jacob’s Well will be holding the 2nd “Down By The River” in the parking lot in the center of town here in Lockhart. It will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be bounce rides for the kids, Corn Hole, Poker Run, vendors, food and crafts. There will be t-shirts for sale, also.

Remember In Prayer

Billy Rae Burns had her surgery Tuesday, so pray for her recovery. Pray, also, for Robert Reuter, Olan Dabbs, and all of our Chemo patients. Please keep Robert in mind if you have any Boost, Ensure or Equate left over that you don’t need. As I’ve said he has no income and needs help.

Painful Answer

The patient who came to my radiology office for abdominal X-ray was already heavily sedated. But I still had to ask her a lot or questions, the last one being, “Ma’am, where is your pain right now?”

Through her medicated fog, she answered, “He’s at work.”

Long Wait

The doctor’s office was crowded as usual, but the doctor was moving at his usual snail’s pace.

After waiting two hours, an old man slowly stood up and started walking toward the door.

“Where are you going?” the receptionist called out.

“Well,” he said, ” I figured I’d go home and die a natural death.”

Not An Early Riser

It took me forever to wake up one of my nursing home patients. But after much poking, prodding, and wrangling, he finally sat up and fixed his twinkling blue eyes on my face.

“My, you’re pretty!” he said, “Have I asked you to marry me yet?”

“No, you haven’t,” I gushed.

“Good, Because I couldn’t put up with this every morning.”

Well, I hope I gave you enough to think about, and give me a call at 864-545-6652. Good night. Thank you to all my readers and customers, I really appreciate all of you.
