105 degrees was on my barometer, on my porch, last Sunday. Now what the actually temp was I don’t know. But D.A. McCloud wanted to give me a dollar if I let him sit in my shop all day, oh he was just joking. But I tried to keep it 72 in there and everyone enjoyed coming in out of the heat. I ordered the heatwave just to get customers, otherwise I just drag them in off the street.
I was waiting to go to work so I got on Facebook for a few minutes, Sunday. I heard a rustling noise, so I thought is it raining? So I looked out the front door at about 12:15 p.m. Nothing. Sat at the computer and kept hearing it. I thought, are my water pipes broke under the house? It worried me, but I couldn’t find where the noise was coming from. I walked out to go to work at 12:30 and Bernice Canupp told me a couple came down through the trees and bushes in behind my house.
We will hear so many different tales about this. I think they were lost, they were not from here and probably came off of N. 8th down toward Robbie Queen’s and couldn’t make the curve. Another driver said they went airborne over her car. Someone said, they were from #176, and another said Columbia. They were in their 70s. She had two broken wrists and an ankle. Later I heard she broke her back (?) and he was pinned in the car and knocked out.
Well, that’s the sound I heard and if I would have looked out the back door, I might have seen the bushes move. I do hope they are ok.
New Cell Phone
Soooo!! Chuck got a new cell phone, and that’s why you cannot get a hold of him. I’ve got his ## at the shop written down, if you want him for the mower business.
Anyway, this new phone came with a Blue Tooth. He bought this on Saturday, but on Friday he decided to try the Blue Tooth and called me at work. I think he said he was at Walmart.
I laughed so hard, because the little thing is up at the ear, and not down at his mouth. He thought he had to yell for me to hear him. He said if he wears it in his ear, someone might think he’s important. Anyway, if he calls you and starts yelling, then you know he’s got the Blue Tooth hooked up.
Last week I said Ailene was on Lake Michigan. Wrong!! She’s on Lake Cullen, in Minnesota and probably having a great time. She’s with daughter Cheryl.
By now most of you know that Barry “Big Chew” Stepp passed away last Thursday, and his funeral was Sunday. My sympathy goes out to Betty and her family. He was such a sweet, caring man, and will really be missed.
Monty Allen will be in concert Sunday, July 20, 6 p.m. at Lockhart First Baptist Church. You better come early if you want a seat. I hear it has been standing room only when he comes to sing. Everybody loves Monty.

I went by Brown’s Creek Water Co. today and saw Nadine Smith, she always has a smile on her face. She won a cookbook that I delivered to her, it was family food so now she’ll have to invite family and try it out.
Brenda Jenkins and I had a lesson on scanning to the computer and making folders, and then emailing them. Thanks Brad Jennings. Well that took up most of my morning, so I didn’t do any errands. Oh well!!
Airports see more sincere kisses than wedding halls. The walls of hospitals have heard more prayers than the walls of churches.
Well I guess I will close, I’ve been trying real hard not to write long articles. Sometimes I get started and don’t know when to quit.
But I’ll say good night, call me at 864-545-6652. Maurice McCollum called me Saturday from Oklahoma. Lexie Bentley in Texas called. Suzzie Smith Witherspoon in Michigan also contacted me. Thank you to the friends I’ve made for caring. Glad to hear from all of you with your opinions. And Happy Belated Birthday to Suzzie on the 13th of July.
