I really want to continue to thank you for your help in furnishing Boost and Ensure for our Cancer Friend. He has tried to eat and the radiation and the mouth cancer surgery has still made it impossible for him to swallow food, therefore without an income he still needs the help of all of you caring people.

Mrs Clowny called me the other day, concerned and wanted me to call her, but I don’t have caller ID and did not get her phone number. Please try again.

Someone, who wants to stay nameless, sent me some money and I had Stephanie pick me up some Boost today, since he only had two days left.

We still haven’t found him a refrigerator, which could be an apartment size.

He’s very humble and appreciates anything anyone does for him. Again thank you.

Vandalizing A Church

By now you know that someone threw rocks and busted holes in the stained glass windows of the Lockhart Methodist Church. I believe it was four windows.

Why?!!

You know who you are, and I’m sure it’s not anyone reading my article, but this person could come and do volunteer work around the town to help make it look better instead of demolishing our churches, painting over our signs, vandalizing our town truck. Someone is running around late at night just looking for unworthy things to get into. One day you will be caught.

Sorry for venting.

Anyway, the church has so few members and has insurance, but has to think of a way to pay the deductible.

If this person gets away with this I’m afraid his destructive ways will continue throughout our town.

Also, I read that the church will be looking into the cost of protective covering for the windows.

Sympathy

I want to send my sympathy out to Judy Cameron Gill’s family, Charlie, Ashley, Brenda, Scott and the grandchildren. We also lost Ned Farr, husband of Laura, this week. I am so sorry for your family’s loss.

Christmas Lights

I went to town hall today and who did I see in the office with Hugh, Ted and June? Annette Sutherland. It’s that time again.

When you see Annette, then you know it’s time to start getting the Christmas lights tested and straightened out, and start getting things working for our decorations around town. So now she will need volunteers to help her, because this is not an overnight job.

Call Town Hall at 545-2103, or me at 545-6652 and give me a phone number to give to Annette so she can call you.

Girl Scouts

I see that we have a new Girl Scout leader, yeah!

So, girls, if you are between the ages of kindergarten through grade 12 and would like to join troop #391, call Heather Carter, at 426-6287.

This is sponsored by Lockhart First Baptist Church.

Sewage Project

Well, we have our grant to start the last phase of our sewage project, so now we will start taking bids for the engineer to handle this project.

This will take place in the upper part of town, Mill St. to S. 3rd.We will be going from 4” and 6” pipes to 8.”

I’ll keep you posted on where we are at on our project.

Birthdays

Happy Birthday to Rhiannon Revis, Chase Belue and Hannah Roark on the 27th (belated). The 29th is Trina Roark. The 30th is Jimmy Trakas. Sept. 1, Jack McKnight; second is Maddux Parker; third, are Lindsay Palmer and Shelby Canty; fourth, Earnest (Fuzzy) Woods and Judy Turner.

Anniversaries

Happy Anniversary, belated, but very important on the 27th are Louise and Gem McCutcheon and also John and Melissa Gibson. On the 29th, Brent and Rhonda Greer.

Dearest Friend

Speaking of birthdays, I must tell you that I forgot to mention what my dearest, dearest, friend, Myrtis Young, gave me.

A bear on a swing and a sunflower that has the biggest smile and when you put them in the window they just keep on moving.

She started me with a collection and some of my customers really want to relieve me of them.

They put a smile on your face like Mert does. She never forgets her friends with funny cards and thoughtful gifts.

And she got on me, cause I forgot her in last week’s column. Sorry.

Free Books

Please don’t forget to come in and get you some free books, I really need the cabinet they are in to be empty.

Cell Phone Wedding

Did you hear about the cell phone wedding? The ceremony was fantastic, but the reception was terrible.

Flea Market

I heard there was a great turnout at Barry’s Lockhart Flea Market last weekend. This coming weekend should run the same, free tables and it starts at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Well, I’ll say good night and keep my ears open for any news that I can tell next week. Just call me at 864-545-6652.
