UNION — Trans-South Wrestling returns to the Union County Fairgrounds this weekend.
After taking the show on the road to Gaffney in August, TSW will return to Union at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 6.
The main event for the evening will feature TSW heavyweight champion and former WCW star The Stro “Maestro of Wrestling,” who will defend his title against “The Feature Presentation” Jeff Lewis Neal.
In typical pro wrestling fashion, The Stro posted a video on various social media websites, taunting Neal in his own bizarre way. Stro began by singing the name “Jeffrey Lewis Neal,” saying, “That sounds like a little ditty.”
“Try as hard as you can Jeffrey Lewis Neal,” Stro went on. “Flex those muscles of yours and bring some sheep, if you must, to cheer you on at ringside. Because Papa knows there’s not going to be a happy ending.”
Neal responded with a video of his own, in which he was joined by wrestling legend Nikita Koloff. Neal and Koloff both predicted that Neal would take the championship from The Stro this Saturday.
“I’m a thief in your yard?” Neal asked in response to Stro’s video. “I’ve worked too long and too hard to not come away victorious this Saturday in Union. You’re going to get all of Jeff Lewis Neal. You’re going to get the highlight reel. You’re going to get the feature presentation. You’re going to get the best kept secret in wrestling.”
Also on Saturday’s card, TSW Tag Team Champions Deon Johnson and “Dirty” (Ernest Robinson) will defend their titles against a team known as “Cirkus.” This will be the debut of the Cirkus in TSW.
Another match on the card will be an eight-man tag-team elimination match. Referee Tracy Gene Rash explained the rules of the match, which he said would require two referees.
“It’s eight-man elimination, similar to WWE’s Survivor Series matches,” Rash said. “The difference with this is that it has to come down to one person. So, if everyone is eliminated except for two guys who are on the same team, then they would wrestle each other until one is eliminated.”
The eight competitors scheduled are Hunter Thompson, Kameron Kade, Josh Powers, Eric Adamz, Alex Avgerinos, Cauliflower Brown, Jett Black and Garrett Sinclair.
Rash said the winner of the match will get an opportunity to wrestle for the TSW heavyweight title at the Union County Agricultural Fair. This year’s fair will feature pro wrestling matches at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, which is “School Day” at the fair.
Other events on TSW’s schedule include another event on Nov. 1 at Union County Fairgrounds, as well as a return to the Broad River Electric Auditorium in Gaffney on Nov. 15 for an event featuring appearances by WWE Hall of Famers Mick Foley and Jimmy Valiant.
