UNION COUNTY — Carolina Community Actions, Inc. (CCA) is now taking applications to assist low-income families with home energy cooling bills and a variety of other programs and services through the LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) and GEAP (General Emergency Assistance Program) programs.
Funds are available to assist households with cooling bills up to $1,000, air conditioner units, HVAC repairs or replacement. Assistance is also available for rent or mortgage bills in addition to tuition for job training, employment, child care and general education degrees (GED).
LIHEAP eligible households may be served twice during the program year. Household income for one person cannot exceed $1,458.75 and the household income for two persons cannot exceed $1,966.25. Add $507.50 for each additional person in the household to help determine eligibility. Income guidelines vary for LIHEAP and GEAP programs.
Applications are taken Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 201 E. Main Street, Suite A. Union, SC 29279.
Carolina Community Actions, Inc. (CCA) programs are funded through the Department of Health and Human Services and administered through the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) in Columbia, SC.
