UNION — An upcoming series of cooking classes will provide an opportunity to take an American culinary road trip without leaving Union.
Union’s own Peggy Waller — innkeeper at The Inn at Merridun — is established locally as a gourmet cook and hostess, and now the public has an opportunity to learn some of her culinary secrets by taking her culinary classes at the Clemson Extension Office.
Each hands-on class will lead students through cooking all courses from appetizers to desserts.
“You’ll learn something new, be introduced to new foods and recipes, increase your basic and advanced cooking skills, make great sauces, use delicious herbs/spices, and more - and EAT and have FUN at the same time!” Waller said.
There are currently three classes scheduled, each with a different theme.
The first class — “Scrumptious Southeast” — will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22.
The second class — “Mouthwatering New Orleans” — will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27.
The third class — “Sassy Southwest” — will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1.
Class size is limited, and cost is $30 per person or $80 for all three. For more information, call 864-427-7052, email Merridun@charter.net or visit www.merridun.com.
