Wednesday, Feb. 5


5:30 p.m.: The Laura Farr Sunday school class of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 573 Wesley Chapel Road, will have their Poor Man’s Supper. Menu will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and sweet tea. Desserts will be extra. Guest singers will be Kellie Allen and Patty Turner, singing starts at 6:15 pm. Proceeds to benefit the youth of Wesley Chapel. Take outs call 427-5319. Everyone is invited and everyone is welcomed.


Friday, Feb. 7


7 p.m.: Bountiful Blessing Church, 110 Peake Road, Roebuck, will hold host a revival preached by Minister Eric Talley, a former resident of Union County. The revival was originally scheduled for Jan. 29 but had to be rescheduled due to the weather. Apostle Thomas J. Lee, Senior Pastor. Saturday, Feb. 8


10 a.m.: The Trustees of McBeth Baptist Church, 105 Lawson Avenue, hosts a Trustee Workshop. Bro. John Gist of Bethel Baptist Church will be the instructor for the workshop. The public is invited. Rev. Freddie L. Wicker Jr., Pastor.


Sunday, Feb. 9


11:30 a.m.: St. Paul Baptist Church, Union, will present a Black History Program. The program will include a presentation on the history of Black History Month by Jackie Stevens; a profile of Patricia Bath presented by Dimitri Dean; and a profile of Granville T. Woods presented by Donna K. Means. Dr. A.L. Brackett, Pastor.


Noon-Until: Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Road, Union, serves Sunday Dinner. The menu includes fried chicken, roast beef, steak and gravy, creamed potatoes, rice and gravy, macaroni pie, green beans, lima beans, slaw, rolls, tea, and dessert. The cost is $8 per person. Saturday, Feb. 15


5:30 p.m.: Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 2153 Mt. Lebanon Road, Buffalo, holds a Wild Game Supper. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Michael Lord (Michael Lord Outdoors). There will be food, fellowship, door prizes. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 8 and under. If you purchase eight tickets at table can be reserved for your group with advanced notice. 11:15 a.m.: Bethesda Baptist Church, Santuc, holds a Black History Month Celebration. Guest speaker will be Pastor Robert Charles, Rock Hill Independent Church, Jenkinsville, S.C.


2 p.m.: Bethesda Baptist Church, Santuc, holds Our Heritage (Friends and Family Day). Guest speaker will be Coach Willie Jeffries, a Union native and coach emeritus at SC State University. Rev. Roderick Oglesby Sr., Pastor.


Friday, March 14


7 p.m.: Glendale Baptist Church, 111 Hottel Circle, Glendale, S.C., hosts a concert by The Chuckwagon Gang. This will be a love offering event. For more information call 864-415-1461.


Ongoing Events


The Union Moms In Prayer group meets each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway, Union, S.C. This is an informal gathering of moms, grandmothers, and any other interested ladies who would like to be a part of this important ministry of praying for the students, teachers, and staff of our schools. There is also opportunity, for those who wish, to ask prayer for specific individuals. All ladies are welcome to participate. Mitchell Chapel Christian Church, 381 Kelly Road in Union, holds services at its new location, 143 Camelot Drive in Union.


The Missionary Auxiliary of the Pacolet River Baptist Association has an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Bring identification and proof residence.
