UNION — A total of 26 applicants including some described as being over-qualified applied for jobs at the Union Bojangles restaurant during a recent recruitment event at the SCWorks office.

The event, which was held Thursday morning, was sponsored by Bojangles which is looking to fill a total of 15 positions at its Union restaurant.

Applicants taking part in the recruitment event submitted their applications to and were interviewed by Bojangles Unit Director Any Long who said she was pleased, both with the number and quality of those applicants.

“It went pretty well,” Long said. “We took 26 applications and there were some really good applicants. In fact, there were some people who were actually overqualified, they just can’t find work.”

Long said the 26 applications she received were in addition to the more than 100 applications that have been received at the restaurant itself.

“I’m suprised at so many applications,” Long said. “I’m surprised at so many people looking for work in such a small community. It saddens me that I can’t help everyone even though I want to.”

Long said she hired five people from Thursday’s recruitment event adding that five more will be hired once the first group has completed their training at the restaurant. Once the second group’s training is complete, Long said five more will be hired and begin training.

Bojangles is looking to fill a total of 15 positions at its Union resturant including drive-thru team members and cashiers.

A drive-thru team member greets customers and takes their order, assembles the order, receives the payment and then presents the order to the customer. Drive-thru team members also thank the customer and ask them to visit the restaurant again.

A cashier meets and takes orders from customers, packages orders, takes payments and issues receipts. May work drive-thru window, taking orders via a headset or speakers.

A high school diploma or GED is required for each position.

Long said that the restaurant is still taking applications that anyone interested in working there should go online at snagajob.com and file an application.
