A suspect is in custody in connection with a fatal hit and run on Interstate 85 that occurred Monday.
Calls came in around 2:30 a.m. Monday that a victim had been hit on I- 85 in Harris County between mile markers 1 and 2 heading northbound.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, evidence at the scene indicated the suspected vehicle is a Pontiac Grand Prix between the model years 1997 and 2003. It was believed to be either a two or four-door model with damage to the right corner and the windshield and may also be missing the right side passenger window, according to reports.
The victim was found when authorities responded to a call of a tree partially blocking the interstate around 2:30 a.m. The victim has not been identified at this time.
West Point Police Department’s Captain Robert Fawley said the suspect turned himself in Monday night in West Point and was taken to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
According to GSP Sgt. Maurice Raines , a suspect is in custody but no charges have filed as of press time Monday. No name has been released.
