The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:
— Larry Wayne Martin, 28, of 109 Lybrand Street, Union, was charged with shoplifting and two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses around 6:10 p.m. July 2. According to arrest warrants, Martin took an iron valued at $27.88 from Walmart and attempted to exchange it for a gift card on June 22. When he was unable to do so, he left with the iron. Warrants also state Martin exchanged a package of sheets from the shelves of the same store for a gift card on June 15, and he exchanged a pair of shoes from the store for a gift card on June 19.
— Vianco Duan Dowdle, 40, of 120 Aqua Lane, Union, was charged with assault and battery around 10 a.m. July 2. According to the arrest warrant, Dowdle struck a woman on her head and back while at his residence.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrest:
— Richard Nicklas Gregory, 37, of 318 South 5th Street, Lockhart, was charged with third-degree assault and battery around 8 p.m. July 2. According to the incident report, Gregory assaulted a juvenile, leaving red marks on his neck.
