Crystal Jean Nave, 31, of 295 Vanderford Road, Union, was charged with child neglect around 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30.
The arrest warrant states that Nave did leave her 16-month-old child in an unlocked running vehicle and went inside the Fresh Air Galaxy, leaving the child unattended by an adult and placing the child in unreasonable risk of harm.
According to the incident report, officers responded to Fresh Air Galaxy in reference to a child being left unattended in a vehicle. When officers arrived, Nave was in the truck at a nearby Li’l Cricket store.

The report states Nave said she was only in Fresh Air Galaxy for five minutes, and she could see her vehicle from inside the store. Officers later stated there was no way she could see her vehicle from inside the store, and investigation showed that Nave was inside Fresh Air Galaxy for around 15 minutes.
Officers advised Nave what she did was serious and that she should have taken the child in the store with her because 16-month-old children cannot protect themselves.
