WHITMIRE — The Union County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who robbed Dollar General, located at 6514 Whitmire Highway, Whitmire.
Around 4:40 p.m. April 26, a white male attempted to rob the Dollar General near Whitmire in Union County — the second time the store has been robbed in five days.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the suspect as Jeffrey Earl Gedeist of 919 Central Avenue, Whitmire. Gedeist is a white male, 41 years of age and his date of birth is Oct. 14, 1972.
The sheriff’s office was able to locate a stolen vehicle at 190 Maybinton Road that officers were able to link to Gedeist. The suspect ran into the woods and bloodhounds tracked him for approximately four hours before the suspect eluded officers and bloodhounds.
The sheriff’s office has an outstanding warrant for armed robbery/robbery while armed or alleged armed robbery with a deadly weapon. The warrant states Gedeist demanded money and threatened the store cashier with bodily harm. The warrant states Gedeist insinuated he had a pistol and would shoot the cashier. He also left the store without paying for items valued at $51.54.
