Man charged with attempted murder

UNION — A Union man was charged with two counts of attempted murder and other charges on Friday.

Jamie Tyler Whitlock, 22, of 1208 Main Street, Union, was charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of attempted murder, manufacture or possession of an article designed to cause damage by fire, violation of a beginner permit and disregarding a yield sign around 7:15 a.m. Friday, July 10.

According to the incident report, deputies were dispatched to an address on Aetna Street, Union, around 1:20 a.m. Friday. A man stated that Whitlock had thrown a glass bottle filled with flammable liquid and with burning cloth in the vehicle at him and his wife while driving by in a truck and yelling a statement such as “Burn in hell.” The report states a deputy photographed the scene, collected evidence and took a written statement from the complainant.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

— Dierris Gerard Jeter, 23, of 203 Harris Street, Jonesville, was charged with third-degree criminal domestic violence around 8:30 a.m. July 10. According to the incident report, a woman stated Jeter hit her in the face with a boot.

— Harold Jeter Jr., 33, of 330 Mt. Joy Church Road, Jonesville, was charged with shoplifting around 10:20 a.m. July 10. According to the incident report, Jeter took two magazines valued at a total of $10 from Dollar General, located at 4831 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy., Union.

— Paul James Glenn, 56, of 1217 West Springs Hwy., Jonesville, was charged with driving under the influence around 1:57 a.m. July 11.

— Anthony Cunningham, 50, of 302 3rd Street, Union, was charged with driving under suspension around 2:53 a.m. July 11.

— Nathan Louis Lindsey, 21, of 1364 West Springs Hwy., Jonesville, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, altering a tag and operating a vehicle with no insurance around 11:56 a.m. July 11. The incident report states the UCSO will also seek warrants from the magistrate for resisting arrest, petit larceny and trespassing after notice.

— Ashley Nicole Hooper, 31, of 251 Kelly Road, Union, was charged with third-degree assault and battery and malicious injury to property around 10:30 p.m. July 9. According to the incident report, a man stated Hooper grabbed him by the neck, and he pushed her out the door. The man stated he locked the door and Hooper began throwing bricks at it. He stated Hooper then broke the glass in the screen door by slamming it into a speaker. Hooper was arrested and transported to Union County Jail.

— Robert Lee Young, 38, of 210 North 1st Street, Lockhart, was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm around 1:17 a.m. July 12. The incident report states Young told a man to come to his porch because he had something for him, and when the man got to the middle of the road, Young pointed a gun at him. Officers arrested Young and seized a High Point .45 handgun, three clips and 26 live rounds.

— Crystal Haney Garner, 35, of 870 Lee Road, Union, was charged with possession of a Schedule IV narcotic around 1:51 a.m. July 12.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

— Karell Harold Thompson, 17, of 1108 South Pinckney Street, Union, was charged with public intoxication, consumption of alcohol by a minor and simple possession of marijuana around 4:09 a.m. July 12.

— Melanie Louise Payne, 40, of 307 North Boyce Street, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 4:20 a.m. July 12.

— Angela Lachelle Vaughan, 40, of 308 Hicks Street, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 4:39 a.m. July 12.

— Glenn Richard Smith, 40, of 809 Doc Thompson Lane, Inman, was charged with trespassing and shoplifting around 12:18 a.m. July 11. Arrest warrants state Smith took a bottle of Red Door cologne from Walmart, located at 513 North Duncan Bypass, Union, on July 10, and was already on trespass notice from the store.

— Emily Outzs Vaughan, 41, of 1208 West Main Street, Union, was charged with trespassing around 5:49 a.m. July 11.

— Monty Paul Caldwell, 47, of 4902 Cross Keys Hwy., Union, was charged with open container around 4:05 p.m. July 12.

— Vickie Lynn Boulware, 45, of 101 Long Twelve, Union, was charged with open container around 3:55 p.m. July 12.
