I’m running for reelection for District 2 because I have experience on council and I have learned a lot from attending council meetings and attending seminars in Columbia with representatives from all 46 counties.
I have learned how local government works and I will work hard and try to get industries to locate in Union. Some of the existing industries have created expansions that have created new jobs like Haemonetics, Standard Textile, and Gestamp.
I’m on the board of the Alcohol and Drug Center and have been talking to the director about a prevention program that she has started. She has been going into the schools to prevent the kids from getting on drugs and try to prevent the drug problem in Union County.
I work with the Senior Citizens Board, I’ve met with them and worked with them. I’m on the Special Needs Board and I’m also on the Mental Health Board and I’m the representative from council for the Hospital Board.
I’m in favor of the one cent sales tax because I think it will give the citizens some relief on the property tax.
I’m running because I am the more experienced of the candidates running to be elected on June 14.
Ralph Tucker is running for the Democratic nomination for Union County Council District 2 in Tuesday’s primary.
