UNION COUNTY — Arrests for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, assault and battery second-degree, filing a false police report of a felony, and domestic violence second-degree were made by local law enforcement over the past several days.

Intent To Distribute Marijuana

A Union man ended up in jail on drug possession with intent to distribute charges after allegedly being found with 1/4 of a pound of marijuana in his possession within a half-mile of a local park.

Rashaad Aikem Green, 24, 1111 Lakeside Drive, #F15, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a 1/2 mile of Excelsior Park.

The incident report states that Wednesday, November 15, an investigator received information that Green was on Columbus Street in the City of Union in a vehicle seated in the passenger side of the vehicle with a large quantity of Marijuana. The report states that the ivestigator and another deputy drove to that location and noticed Green sitting in the passenger side of a 2007 Chevy Impala. It states the deputies drove up next to the Impala, got out their patrol car and went to the passenger side of the Impala where Green was sitting.

While walking up to the Impala, the report states the investigator noticed Green appeared to be attempting to conceal something under the seat. The report states the investigor opened the passenger side door of the Impala and asked Green to exit the vehicle. As Green exited the vehicle, the report states deputies noticed a large quantity of Marijuana in the floorboard where he’d been seated.

Green was then placed under arrest for the Marijuana and the investigator advised him of his Miranda warning. The report states Green admitted that all the Marijuana was his. It states deputies collected approximately 1/4 of a pound of Marijuana and digital scales from the floorboard of the car and seized $316 in cash from Green.

The report states Green was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within a 1/2 mile of Excelsior Park.

Because Green admitted the Marijuana was his, the report states the female driver of the Impala was released.

Assault And Battery Second-Degree

A Union man who was already in jail is now facing an additional charge after allegedly attacking another inmate.

Joseph Lester Cochran III, 39, 227 Haas Street, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with assault and battery second-degree.

The incident report states that on Wednesday, November 15, a deputy was dispatched to the Union County Jail where he met with the complainant, a member of the jail administration. The report states the complainant told the deputy that she’d got a report from the night shift about an assault that occurred in the jail. It states the complainant said two inmates had gotten into a fight in the C Block of the jail and that the fight had been seen on camera fighting.

The report states the other inmate in the fight was transported to Union Medical Center for treatment. It states that the inmate was determined to have suffered a fractured nose.

The report states the responding deputy would seek a warrant on Cochran for assault.

Filing A False Report

A Spartanburg man ended up in jail this week for allegedly filing a false police report in March.

Lavaris Malik Davis, 21, 124 Winston Court, Spartanburg, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with filing a false police report of a felony.

The warrant for Davis’ arrest states that on Wednesday, March 29, Davis committed the crime of filing a false report with the Public Safety Department about financial transaction card fraud, indicating that his bank debit card had been fraudulently used at an ATM in a convenience store in Spartanburg on Friday, March 17.

It states that a police investigation determined that Davis had filed a false police report due to him being the person who had used his debit card at that ATM.

Davis was arrested Monday, November 13.

Domestic Violence Second-Degree

A Union man was arrested this week for allegedly repeatedly attacking a woman during an incident at the beginning of October.

Jarvis Rashun Broadus, 31, 103 Culp Street, Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with domestic violence second-degree.

The incident report states that on Sunday, October 1 an officer responded to a residence on Westview Drive in reference to a disturbance. The report states that when the officer arrived he spoke with the victim who said that Broadus was at her residence and she and he had been arguing about a female who called him while she had his phone. It states the victim said Broadus grabbed her and shook her in front of her children at her house.

The report states the victim said she ran to her neighbor’s house on Westview Drive for safety, but that Broadus followed her and grabbed and shook her in front of her neighbor. It states the victim said her neighbor told Broadus to let her go which he did and went back to her residence. The report states the victim said that a few minutes later Broadus came running back after her, but the neighbor got her into her house.

The officer then spoke with the neighbor who the report states said the victim came to her home and she saw Broadus grab her on the porch. The neighbor said she told Broadus to let the victim go and he did and went back to the victim’s home. The report states the neighbor said some time passed and Broadus came running back over and she got the victim back inside.

The report states the officer got the victim and the neighbor to fill out a statement and he filled out a victim’s advocate form. It states the officer was to sign a warrant for domestic violence second-degree.

Broadus was taken into custody on Monday, November 13.

— Benjamin Jerome Polk, 20, 314 McClure Street, Union, charged Saturday, November 12 with simple possession of marijuana.

— Da’Kaita Donshae Cornwell, 23, 209 Lawson Avenue, Union, charged Friday, November 10 with simple possession of marijuana.

— Jerry Ray Fox Jr., 36, 228 Upper Fairforest Apartment #102, Union, charged Sunday, November 12 with trespassing.

— Joshua Keith Price, 29, 401 Monarch Highway, Union, charged Saturday, November 11 with simple possession of marijuana.

— Nickos Lamont Smith, 37, 117 Poplar Springs Drive, Gaffney, charged Sunday, November 12 with trespassing.

— Nathan Nickolas Gregory, 18, 139 Bentleytown Road, Union, charged Saturday, November 11 with driving under suspension.

— A 15-year-old juvenile charged Wednesday, November 8 with disorderly conduct.

— A 16-year-old juvenile charged Wednesday, November 8 with disorderly conduct.

— A 14-year-old juvenile charged Thursday, November 9 with simple assault.

— A 16-year-old juvenile charged Wednesday, November 15 with simple possession of marijuana.

— A 16-year-old juvenile charged Thursday, November 16 with disorderly conduct.

— Zachaire Renee Foster, 17, 103 Marigold Drive, Union, charged Thursday, November 16 with disorderly conduct.

— Nathaniel Charles Sorrell, 17, 217 Hummingbird Lane, Union, charged Friday, November 10 with simple possession of marijuana.

— Jeffery Paul Bolick, 50, 100 Virginia Avenue, Huntersville, North Carolina, charged Saturday, November 11 with giving false information to police.
