UNION — An evening Christmas celebration that includes a play about a nativity set and children singing, dancing, and ringing bells will be presented Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Grace United Methodist Church.
The “Merry Christmas 2016” program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with a welcome to all in attendance by the church’s pastor, Rev. David Bauknight.
This will be followed by a performance of the Children’s Bell Choir. The children will then sing “Away in a Manger.”
Next will be the main feature of the evening, a performance by NarroWay Productions — a professional acting troupe out of Fort Mill — of the Christmas play “The Nativity Set.”
According to a synopsis on its website (narroway.net), “The Nativity Set” is about how “every year at Christmas, the old life-size nativity set is assembled at the front of the church. It’s a tradition most would like to forego. Fifty years ago, when Mrs. Howerton donated the nativity set, she had hoped it might, ‘Breathe new life into the church and bring to focus the real meaning of Christmas.’ This year, it will. You’ll never look at the nativity set the same again!”
Following the play there will be a performance of the “Children’s Liturgical Dance” during which a love offering will be collected.
The evening will conclude with prayer.
