UNION COUNTY — The Union County Yellow Jackets will advance to the next round of playoffs this week after Friday’s win over Aiken.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Aiken’s Green Hornets in a final score of 43-20 at Union County Stadium Friday, advancing Union County to the next level of 4A playoffs.

Union County’s standout receiver — and future Gamecock — Shi Smith recorded 12 receptions for 209 yards and two touchdowns during Friday’s game. Union County’s De’Shaun Holmes and Markevious Glenn ran for two touchdowns a piece.

At the half, the Yellow Jackets had a 20-0 lead over Aiken. Aiken scored twice in the third quarter.

Union County will face Ridge View in the second round of the playoffs this week. The Yellow Jackets will look for redemption after their loss to Ridge View during the regular season. Look for more about this Friday’s game in Wednesday’s edition of The Union Times and at www.uniondailytimes.com.
