UNION — A chance to win handmade craft items, to purchase baked goods, and to view gingerbread houses are all part of an annual event going on this week at a local church.
The Episcopal Church of the Nativity is hosting its annual “Gingerbread House Display” this week. The three-day event, which will be held beginning this Thursday, gives the public the opportunity to view the gingerbread houses made by church members and other local residents now on display at the church. The event is free to the public which is invited to come and view them at the following times over the next three days:
• Thursday — 4-8 p.m.
• Friday — 4-8 p.m.
• Saturday — 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
The gingerbread houses are being judged today and the public will be able to see which of them won the nod from the panel of judges.
In addition to the gingerbread houses on display, the event will also feature a bake sale with baked goods provided by the ladies of the church and members of the community.
Hand painted crafts by Jill Brown will also be on display during the event. There will be hand painted craft items for sale. There will also be chances to win three items that Brown has donated to the church. The public will have the opportunity to buy chances to win those items. There will be daily drawings with one winner announced each day.
The funds raised from the event will be used for The Episcopal Church of the Nativity’s community outreach for Meals on Wheels and Union County’s Habitat for Humanity as well as the church’s in-reach programs.
