UNION COUNTY — An annual service project by a group of very special high school students is part of the ongoing local commitment to commemorate the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack.

In a statement released last week, the Union County High School JROTC announced that its JROTC cadets “Jedi Knights” team spent the evening of Sept. 9 repainting the 9/11 Memorial on US 176.

The press release states that “the memorial represents how we will not forget the tragic event that took place on September 11, 2001.”

It further states that “the Union County Office of SCDOT and the American Legion Post 22 supports the JROTC cadets in this service learning project every year. There were approximately 20 cadets that participated in the flag painting.”
