PACOLET — The choirs of two Union County schools recently combined their voices to perform a Halloween-themed concert during a festival in Pacolet earlier this month.
In a statement released this week, Monarch Elementary School announced that the MES and Lockhart School choirs joined together to perform at the Pacolet Indian Summer Festival in Pacolet on Oct. 15.
“Students entertained a large crowd of festival-goers with several Halloween-themed selections including ‘Spooky Night,’ ‘Haunted Piano,’ and ‘Have You Seen the Ghost of John.’ A crowd and ensemble favorite was ‘Zombie Style’ a parody of the PSY hit single ‘Gangnam Style.’”
The press further states that this is not the first first year the two choirs have performed at the festival and that they will in all likelihood be performing there again next year.
“This is the fourth year that the Lockhart Middle School chorus has attended the festival and the third year for the Monarch Elementary School Chorus. The two groups were once again the only groups to attend from Union County, and were the only out-of-district ensembles to participate in the annual event. Both groups have already been invited to attend next year’s festival.”
The announcement states that “the Lockhart Middle School Chorus and Monarch Elementary School Chorus are both under the direction of Mrs. Katherine Thrift-Winch.”
