UNION — On one side of the building at 818 S. Duncan Bypass you can attend a Mixed Martial Arts class and when you’re finished there go to the other side of the building and get your hair done.
The building is home to Ronna’s Salon Life owned by Ronna Pruitt and No Mercy MMA owned by Bradley Pruitt. Husband and wife, the couple acquired the building earlier this year and have since renovated it to house both their businesses.
“We found the building and we’ve been working on it since April,” Ronna said. “We’ve done most of the work ourselves with the help of family and friends and we’re ready to go.”
Go means Ronna’s Salon Life is now open. The full service salon offers the following:
• Nail therapy
• Deals on professional products
Ronna brings to her salon years of experience including serving as the manager of the Smart Style in the Union Walmart for five years and for a year served as supervisor for Smart Styles in York and Rock Hill and Tega Cay. She took two years off to give birth and begin raising her son, and then decided to open her own salon. Ronna said she decided to do so in Union because she has always enjoyed success here and enjoys working in the community.
Ronna is currently seeking to fill two stylist positions and urges those interested to apply. She is also seeking to hire a nail technician and is seeking applicants for that position.
Ronna’s Salon Life is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Appointments, however, can be made for any time.
For the next month, Ronna’s will be offering Grand Opening Specials. All haircuts will be $10.

The other half of building is home to No Mercy MMA which is operated by Bradley Pruitt who teaches the Mixed Martial Arts, a discipline that involves a variety of martial arts styles including Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay/Thai, and Kempo.
“Its about how to handle yourself, how to be able to handle your hands and feet and how to be comfortable standing and down on the ground,” Bradley said. “It involves hands and feet, locks and throws and how to transition to use someone’s weight and momentum against them.”
Bradley has been studying Mixed Martial Arts for the past 17 years, having started at the age of 13, and has been teaching for the past four years.
No Mercy MMA includes classes for children ages 6 and up; women’s self-defense classes; men’s and women’s adult classes; and personal training.
Classes cost $40 a month and, in addition to the training they receive in class, each student receives a No Mercy MMA tee shirt.
No Mercy MMA is open from 3:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday-Friday though weekend classes are also an option. Bradley added that if a person wants to study according to their own schedule to please contact him.
In addition, No Mercy MMA will have a Pro Day every two months when a professional MMA UFC fighter will come and teach a class, pose for photos, and sign autographs.
