UNION — SC Works Upstate, which provides job seekers and employers of Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union Counties a central location to receive a wide array of employment services, has named Nikki Burgess as its new Talent Development Specialist for the Union office.
Ms. Burgess will be in charge of assisting Union county residents with WIOA services to achieve self-sufficient employment opportunities. This includes working closely with those needing training.
“A lifelong resident of Union county, Nikki provides job seekers with the understanding of the area and challenges they may face along with the desire to see them succeed,” noted Nancy Wilson, Talent Development Lead at SC Works Upstate. “Nikki’s love and passion for the Union county area will greatly benefit SC Works, the businesses, and our jobseekers.”
Ms. Burgess received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and an Associate degree in Arts and Science at USC Union.
While attending college at USC Union, she held a work-study position in the Academic Affairs Office and transitioned to an Administrative Assistant position upon graduation. She has also worked in the department of Student Affairs.
As a busy stay at home mom for the past two years, Ms. Burgess entered back into the workforce thoroughly enjoying her new position at SC Works, and feels it is very rewarding to have a position where she has the ability to help others in a way that will possibly change their lives for the better.
