UNION — The senior citizens of Union County are being urged to attend Senior Day at the Union County Fair.
The 2016 Union County Fair will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 through Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Union County Fairgrounds.
Wednesday will be Senior Day which will be held at the fairgrounds from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and is being sponsored by the Union County Council on Aging in partnership with Union County.
Council on Aging Director Tim Black said Friday that Senior Day will include lunch provided by the Union County Recreation Department which will be served at 11:30 a.m. Black said that during lunch door prizes will be given away. He said that seniors will then be treated to a performance by “Sea Lion Splash,” a show involving trained sea lions, followed by a floor show. There will also be Bingo with prizes awarded to the winners.
Black urged all the seniors of Union County to attend Senior Day, not only to enjoy lunch and the entertainment, but also to let the Council on Aging know about their concerns and needs so it can help address them.
“I encourage every senior to come out to this event,” Black said. “This will be a great time to come together and fellowship and get to know each other. It will enable us to learn about each others needs and help us reach out and help address those needs.”
