UNION — The Sims Middle School Volleyball team won their first victory of the season this week.
Coach Tracy Duncan said that the Lady Tigers defeated McCracken in Monday’s game.
“The girls were focused and wanted to win,” Duncan said.
Duncan said that in first game of the match the Lady Tigers were ahead, let McCracken come back and tie and then win the game. She said that Carmen Glenn, Carley Sumner, Caitlin Davis, and Paige Blackwell served well in the first game.
In the second game, Duncan said “Sims played much better with hitting and passing. The same servers served well, along with Kendele Sullivan. Carmen Glenn had some nice digs and saves, as well as Kayla Sinclair and Abbey Freeman. Carra Rice had a kill along with Carmen Glenn having some kills.”
Duncan said that “Freeman came in game three and served to give us the lead along with others hustling and digging up balls. In game four, the girls wanted the win, and played extremely well. This game helped build confidence and the girls see that they can do it, when they play together.”
On Wednesday, however, the Lady Tigers fell to Granard, 3-0.
The Lady Tigers are playing a single elimination tournament at Byrnes today.
Duncan said that the Lady Tigers will partner with Miracle League Oct. 25. She added that there will also be a faculty/student volleyball match on Oct. 20 “for our Relay for Life team. Admission is $1 to attend.”
