Wednesday, Oct. 5

5:30 p.m.: Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church will hold a Poor Man’s Supper. The menu will include vegetable soup, cornbread, dessert, and drink. Singing starts at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

6 p.m.: The Potters House on the Gaffney Highway (SC 18) in Jonesville will hold Bible Study. The eveving will begin with a light dinner. This week’s menu includes homemade chicken noodle soup, chicken salad sandwiches, cornbread, crakers, and tea.

Thursday, Oct. 6

Noon: The Community Prayer Meeting at the USC-U gazebo. Please come and join with fellow citizens of Union County, and with others in other places as we pray for our country, our community, our state, and also for our world, and for the Church.

Let us give thanks for our country, and pray fervently for its future. Pray for God’s guidance in the elections this year. Please pray for our military, our police, EMS personnel, and others who risk their lives to serve and protect us.

All are welcome. If you can’t get to the gazebo, please take some time for special prayer during the day.

Sunday, Oct. 9

10 a.m.: The Potters Storehouse on the Gaffney Highway (SC 18) in Jonesville will host a free concert by the Gospel Truth Trio. Dinner will be served afterwards.

10:30 a.m. & 6 p.m.: Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 557 Kelly Road, Union, will hold their first Bikers Sunday. It will be sponsored by the Colossians 3:2 Biker Group.

11:15 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.: The Bethesda Baptist Church Family will celebrate Pastor Roderick Oglesby Sr.’s 4th Appreciation Program.

Guest speaker for the 11:15 a.m. morning service will be Minister Jackie Peake Thompson of Shiloh Baptist Church in Pauline.

The celebration continues at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Kerwin Wray, pastor of Knuckles Chapel Baptist Church in Gaffney accompanied by his church family.

2:30 p.m.: Bethany AME Church’s Adult Choir will their 33rd Anniversary. All choirs are invited to attend.

3 p.m.: The Union County Council on Ministries will be hosting a Steve Holt’s Gospel Magic Show for children at Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Pea Ridge Hwy, Jonesville. A light snack will be served.

Saturday, Oct. 15

11 a.m.: A Chicken Stew Sale to benefit the Federation of Christian Athletes will be held at Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

The chicken stew is $8 a quart and will be ready for pickup at 11 a.m. at the church.

Sunday, Oct. 16

10:30 a.m.; Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 557 Kelly Road, Union, will its 30th Homecoming. The Riverside Boys will be there. A homecoming meal will be held following the service.

11 a.m.: Friendship Baptist Church, located at 250 Morning Drive, Spartanburg, will observe “Woman’s Day” with Pastor LaQuita Griffin of Mitchell Chapel Christian Church as the guest messenger.

The public is invited to attend.

2:30 p.m.: The Youth Ministry of New Emanuel Chapel would like to invite you to our annual “Get Crunk for Christ” praise celebration.

We are asking that all youth choirs, praise dancers, soloist, groups and all other ministries to be in celebration with us and get “CRUNK.”

It will be held at the Jonesville Municipal Complex Auditorium (formerly known as the Old Jonesville High Auditorium ) at 2:30 p.m.

Secret Santa At Grace UMC

The Secret Santa Program at Grace UMC will begin taking applications at DSS located at 200 S. Mountain St. from Oct. 3-21. Eligible children must be 10 years old or younger as of Dec 25 and must be living in a Union County residence. Applications will only be taken at DSS thru Oct. 21, no further applications will be accepted.

Secret Santa is a project of the Upper Room and Young Adult classes at Grace UMC. The program provides toys to children in need during the Christmas season.

Saturday, Nov. 5

11 a.m.: Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church will be holding its Annual Turkey Shoot Fundraiser.

Event will be 10 rounds shooting at stationary target.

• 1st place — Turkey or Ham

• 2nd place — 1 lb. of Bacon

• 1 bonus round — 50/50

There will also be a BB Gun shoot for those 12 and younger.

Food and drinks will be sold.
