CARLISLE — For the 13th year in a row the children of the Carlisle community and their families will enjoy an afternoon of family fun at the Town of Carlisle’s Community Fun Day and Back To School Bash.
Mayor Mary Ferguson-Glenn announced this week that the town’s 13th Community Fun Day and Back To School Bash will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 from 2-7 p.m. at the Carlisle Playground.
Ferguson-Glenn said the event will be a family-friendly one featuring fashion and talent shows, games for both children and adults, music, and, of course, food.
In addition to providing lots of family-friendly fun for the families of the Carlisle community, the event also helps children and their families get ready for the new school year, which this year begins Aug. 15.
Ferguson-Glenn said that, as in years past, the town will provide the children attending the event with free book bags filled with school supplies such as notebook paper, binders, pencils and pens. She said the goal of the town is to help children and their families be ready for the start of the school year by providing them with supplies the children can use at school.
While the Community Fun Day and Back To School Bash is still a little over a week away, Ferguson-Glenn said the town is busy getting things ready for it, including acquiring the school supplies for the children. She said the town is asking for donations to enable it to purchase as much school supplies for as many children as possible.
In addition, Ferguson-Glenn said the town also needs volunteers to assist with the event on Aug. 13.
