GAFFNEY — Broad River Electric’s Annual Meeting of Members will take place on Saturday, May 7 in the Broad River Electric Auditorium, located at 128 Co-op Way in Gaffney, SC.
Once again, attending members will have an opportunity to win a 2007 Toyota Tundra 4X4 truck along with several other door prizes. In addition, this year’s early bird prize will be a 32-inch LED television. Only members who register between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. will be eligible for the early bird prize drawing.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be given away to high school seniors whose parents, grandparents or guardians are members in attendance. The member at the annual meeting can register for the scholarship drawing on the student’s behalf.
You don’t have to be lucky to walk away with something. Every attending member will receive an electric hand mixer and a shaker bottle.
The Rock & Roll Reunion Band, fronted by local news anchor Tom Crabtree, will provide entertainment for this year’s meeting. A local car club will also have vintage vehicles for attendees to see. Energy efficiency mascot CFL Charlie, a favorite of all ages, will also be roaming the auditorium.
For the sixth consecutive year, The Blood Connection will have their mobile blood donation center parked in the back parking lot of the auditorium for any that would like to donate.
Doors to the auditorium will open at 8 a.m. The business meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Prize drawings will take place throughout the meeting with the drawing for the truck at the end.
Freshly-made coffee, doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, and other goodies will be served beginning at 8 a.m.
All members are also encouraged to visit our information booth to learn about all the programs Broad River offers. There will also be a certified energy expert to answer questions regarding efficiency and conservation.
Annual meeting registration tickets are on the cover-wrap of the April issue of South Carolina Living magazine, which is delivered to all cooperative members. Members are encourage to bring these cards, along with attached prize-stubs to the meeting on May 7.
Current trustees Norris Fowler of Jonesville, Kevin Moss of Chesnee, and Mark Patterson of Blacksburg were nominated to serve for a three-year term on the Board. Since there were no petition candidates, the three incumbents will retain their seats by acclimation during the business meeting.
