UNION — On March 5, 2016 the University of South Carolina Union will host the Miss USC Union Pageant at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. This year’s theme, “Fifty Years and Going Strong,” will blend in with USC Union’s 50th anniversary.
The pageant is a community service project and also provides scholarships for the queen, as well as first and second runners-up. Proceeds from this pageant will benefit the local Alzheimer’s Association. The USC Union University 101 classes have raised more than $12,000 towards finding a cure for Alzheimer’s since 2011.
Emcees for the evening will be Mr. Bill Moore and Miss Kaitlyn Wade, Miss USC Union 2012. Alana Wright, Miss USC Union 2015 will perform a vocal solo and end her year’s reign. Past queens as well as local dignitaries will attend and be recognized. Aundi Hunter, Upstate Director of Development for Alzheimer’s, will be in attendance and briefly speak on behalf of the organization.
This year’s contestants are: Satardra Hall (Union), Lauren Harger (Buffalo), Makayla Hutzell (Jonesville), Lauren Mullins (Union), La’ Juan Payne (Union), Tori Rochester (Jonesville), Hailey Sherbert (Buffalo), Brittney Spencer (Union) and Abigail Vlock (Union).
Admission to the pageant is by ticket only. The tickets are $5 each and can be purchased prior to the pageant from the contestants, the USC Union Financial Aid Office (424-8024) or at USC Union Laurens location. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
