SPARTANBURG — Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg held its 3rd annual fundraising event, Artists Going Live, Thursday, Dec. 10, at Chapman Cultural Center with great success, taking in more than $18,000. With considerable support from the community and the hard work of its volunteers, the Guild will use the funds toward the promotion of the visual arts locally by hosting collaborative events for professional artists to mentor aspiring artists. The Guild plans to accomplish this by creating a platform for artists to share knowledge about creating, presenting, and promoting themselves and their works. It also plans to use Artists Going Live proceeds to assist outreach programs for educational institutions in the region.
In response to its support, Artists Going Live Committee Member Brandi Dice said, “This fundraiser was a very worthwhile and needed event for the Guild. The amount raised goes to show just how much support we have for the arts in our community.”
The Guild issued a special thanks to Jamarcus Gaston from Studio 62 for being the event’s celebrity auctioneer; Jay Gibert for providing the music; Berbank and Company; Budweiser of Spartanburg; Stay Mobile; the Phifer Johnson Foundation; Mariana and Roger Habisreutinger; Rick and Elizabeth Orr; Julia Burnett; Motte & Sons Bootlegging Co.; White Oak Management; Susan and Robert Atkins; Paula and Stanley Baker; David and Harriett Ike; State Farm/Cliff Gaubert; Rustic Essentials; and the Art Lounge.
