LOCKHART — Everyone is invited to the Lockhart Christmas Parade which will be held Sunday at 3 p.m.
In a statement released this week, the Town of Lockhart invited everyone to attend the Christmas parade, including civic groups, clubs, businesses, churches, and other organizations interested in having a float in the parade. The press release states that there is no fee for entering a float in the parade.
Parade participants should be lined up at Lockhart Schools, 212 Lockhart Drive, by no later than 1:30-2 p.m. All floats entered in the parade should be ready by that time as judges — all of whom will be from out of town — will be looking them over from 2-2:15 p.m. in order to decide which will win the plaques for Most Attractive, Best Theme, and Original. The plaques will be given to the winners at the Festival of Lights which will be held in the chapel of Lockhart First Baptist Church after the parade.
No 4-wheelers will be allowed in the parade unless they are pulling a float.
Vendors are also welcome to take part in the event. Those vendors who want to participate should call Barry Canupp at 429-7051. Each participating vendor will assigned a spot along the parade route at no charge.
The parking lot next to the community playground across from the Lockhart Town Hall will be reserved as a handicap parking lot. Anyone who qualifies for handicap parking is asked to please have their handicap sticker in the window of their car.
Also, a Christmas parade just wouldn’t be the same without a certain a very special someone making an appearance and that’s why Santa Claus will be taking part in the Lockhart Christmas parade, so remember to be there because Santa’s will be looking for you.
