UNION COUNTY — A Union County CATE Center teacher has been recognized with gifts and has the chance to win many more prizes.
Union County CATE (Career and Technology Education) business education teacher Brian Kemp has been selected as a Top Ten Teacher of the Week by FSI Office Supply and the Carolina Panthers. Nominations are received weekly from students, parents, co-workers and friends. A committee from FSI office products selects a winner from the list of nominees.
Kemp received a gift box full of teacher supplies to use in his classroom, and he is now eligible for the Carolina Panthers and FSI Teacher of the Year award, which includes more prizes such as a trip to a Panthers home game and recognition at halftime as the Carolina Panthers Teacher of the Year.
“It’s a blessing from God,” Kemp said Wednesday morning about receiving the recognition and about his being a teacher. “He’s really given me a purpose with teaching and I just show up every day fulfilling that purpose.”
Kemp has been an educator for five years, the last four at Union County High School and the last two with the CATE Center.
CATE Center Director Kevin Morrow said that Kemp is a great teacher whose passion for teaching helps make his class an enjoyable experience for his students.
“He has a passion for what he does,” Morrow said Wednesday morning. “The students really enjoy the class.”
