UNION COUNTY — When they graduate from Union County High School in spring of 2018 four members of the Yellow Jackets Soccer Team will again play soccer in the fall of that year as members of the USC Union Bantams Soccer Team.
During a ceremony in Room 600 of the CATE Center Tuesday morning Yellow Jackets Blake Johnson, John Addison, Vincent Ramirez, and Jose Pimentel signed to play for the Bantams. The four are currently members of the UCHS Soccer Team and will play their final season as Yellow Jackets in the spring when soccer season gets under way in February.
Johnson, Addison, Ramirez, and Pimentel are all seniors and will graduate from UCHS in the spring of 2018. They will continue their soccer careers — and their educations — at USC Union as members of the Bantams Soccer Team. The four are among the 13 high school students from throughout the area to sign to play for USC Union beginning in 2018. A signing ceremony was held for all 13 — along with eight young women who signed to play on the Lady Bantams Softball Team — in the USC Union Auditorium in October.
Among those attending Tuesday’s signing ceremony was UCHS Soccer Coach David McIntire who said the Yellow Jackets will play their first game of the soccer season on Feb. 9, 2018. McIntire said the first game will be an away game against Andrew Jackson High School. He said the first home game of the season will be Feb. 12 against Laurens County High School.
