UNION COUNTY — The Union County High School Yellow Jackets got their first win of the season this past Friday night as they knocked off the Blue Ridge Tigers at Union County Stadium.

The Jackets raced out to a 28-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in the 54-20 rout of region opponent Blue Ridge. Union County was lead by twin brother’s Kesean and Keion Glover in Friday night’s win. Kesean Glover, who played his first game in several weeks after returning from injury, was great for the Jackets as he was able to score using his arm and his legs. Keion, who moved to defense for the first time after starting the season as a running back, also had a big game. Keion recorded one tackle, two assists, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, and two touchdowns in the contest.

With a 1-7 recorded the Jackets are very much alive in the playoff race with two games remaining. Only one team in the region will miss the playoffs. Travelers Rest, who the Jackets play next week, have yet to win a region game.

This week Union County will take on a very good Greer Yellow Jacket team in the Jacket Bowl. Greer is 7-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to Byrnes in the second week of the season. Greer is averaging just over 35 points per game this season. The Greer offense is led by a very potent rushing game. The Greer defense has also been good this season as they are allowing 22 points per game on average. In two region games this season, Greer has scored 112 points and have only allowed 10.

For Union to be successful this Friday they will have to keep the Greer offense off the field. Kesean Glover will have to make some plays again this week with both his arm and his legs. The Greer defense is very fast and well coached.

• Dorman over Fort Mill

• Gaffney over Byrnes

• Chesnee over St. Joes
